 February 8, 2011 - Eight WOW members attend the 3rd Annual Johnson City Library Writers Event to hear authors Scott Wiggerman, Suzie Spencer, and April Lurie. Present were Sally Clark, Cindy Harper, Aimee Martin, Sheila Kale, Alice Kolb, Lorraine McVey, and Pam Perrin.

We celebrated our 9th birthday as a group at Liz Eberle's house in July, 2010. 

 

July 14, 2010 - From the Porch Swing: Memories of our Grandparents, from Silver Boomer Books, is on bookshelves now and features stories and poems from WOW members: Sally Clark's stories, "Faith Under Fire" and "The Most Beautiful of All,"  Elisabeth Brookshire's story, "The Gift of Time," and Dorothy Leyendecker's poem, "Grandma's Memory Course."

June 15, 2010 - Berry Blue Haiku's premier issue features four of Sally Clark's haiku for children. 

 

June 5, 2010 - Dena Dyer's book signing at The Closer Walk for her newest book from Barbour House, Let the Crow's Feet and Laugh Lines Come: Rediscovering Beaty at Any Age.  

May 26, 2010 - Barbara Loyd's story, "Silk Quilt" is accepted for publication in Patchwork Path: Treasure Box, published by Choice Publishing Group.

May 25, 2010 - Dorothy Leyendecker's story, "A Texas Thanksgiving Day," and Barbara Loyd's story, "Turkey in Crust," have both been accepted for publication in Thanksgiving Tales: True Stories of the Holiday in America, due out in October, 2010.

May, 14, 2010 - Aimee Martin's story, "Hear My Voice," has been accepted for publication in Guidepost's book: Extraordinary Answers to Prayer: In Time of Need.

 

May 11, 2010 - Seven WOW members, Alice Kolb, Aimee Martin, Liz Eberle, Sally Clark, Sheila Kale, Sheila Barnette, and Linda Colie attend the 2nd Annual Johnson City Writer's Event in Johnson City, TX.

May, 2010 - Sally Clark wins First Place from the Alabama Poetry Society for her haiku sequence, "day so gray."

May, 2010 - Sally Clark's poem, "Roadrunner," wins Third Honorable Mention from the Utah State Poetry Society Spring Festival Competition.

May 3, 2010 - Barbara Loyd receives a contract from Focus on the Family magazine for a craft article she wrote about making gift boxes from old Christmas cards.

April 26, 2010 - Sally Clark's poem, "Streamlined Credit," wins First Place in the Abilene Writers Guild Member's Only Monthly Contest for March.

April 20, 2010 - One of Megan Willome's poems, "Still," has been accepted for pubication in L.L. Barkat's new book, God in the Yard: Spiritual Practice for the Rest of Us.

April 18, 2010 - Barbara Loyd has a poem, "Louisiana Summers" accepted for online publication by LIT Magazine.

April 16, 2010 - Sally Clark sells a poem, "The End of Longing" to New Love Stories Magazine, after a two year wait.

April 13, 2010 - One of Sally Clark's haiku has been selected for publication in the Texas Poetry Calendar 2011

April, 2010 - Liz Brookshire's story, "The Gift of Time" and two of Sally Clark's stories, "Most Beautiful of All," and "Faith Under Fire," have been selected for publication in Silver Boomer's latest anthology, From the Porch: Memories of Our Grandparents.

April, 2010 - Sally Clark's story, "Choose Your Struggles," won Third Place from Abilene Writers Guild Annual Contest in the Inspiration category.

March 21, 2010 - Sally Clark's poetry takes three awards in the Poetry Society of Oklahoma's annual contest - haiku "an owl is hear" took a First Place; "My Grandmother's House" took Second Honorable Mention and "Watch Where You Step" won a Citation.

March 12, 2010 - Sally Clark sold a greeting card to Calypso Cards for their Selfish Kitty line.

March, 2010 - Sally Clark won First Place, Second Place, and Honorable Mention for her poems, "Raspberry Gummies," "Bit-o-Honeys," and "Popcorn" in the Abilene Writers Guild Members-Only Monthly Contest for February.

March 6, 2010 - Alice Kolb wins Notable Entry for her nonfiction piece, "The Dead of Winter," in the Dead of Winter contest sponsored by The Write Helper

March 6, 2010 - Mary Eckert's book signing at The Closer Walk for her new book, Where Was God When I Cried, a biography of evangelist "Peaches" Evans.

February 25, 2010 - Four of Sally Clark's children's haiku have been accepted for publicationin the new online publication Berry Blue Haiku.

February, 2010 - Dorothy Leyendecker and Barbara Loyd both receive preliminary acceptance notices from Thanksgiving Tales: Stories of the Holiday in America for their stories.

February 15, 2010 - Aimee Martine's story, "CrunchTime Miracle" has been reprinted in the Guidepost Books' Incredible Power of Prayer series, Expecting Miracles, the third book in the series.

February 15, 2010 - Mary Shearer Eckert's book, Where Was God When I Cried, a biography of evangelist Peaches Evans, will be released April 20, 2010.

February 15, 2010 - Liz Hoyt Eberle's story "Journey to Joy" appears in A Cup of Comfort: Bible Promises: Stories that Celebrate God's Encouraging Words, due to be released March 18, 2010.

January 22, 2010 - Dorothy Leyendecker's Poem, "Christmas, 1945" is published in the January issue of Looking Back: Sharing Sweet Memories of Days Gone By.

January 20, 2010 - Barbara Loyd's poem, "Seeds for Butterflies" is published in Whatever Lovely.

 

December 15, 2009 - Kelly Carper Polden has a book signing for her story , "The Miracle of The Lord's Prayer," in Christmas Miracles at The Closer Walk bookstore in Fredericksburg, TX.

December 5, 2009 - Cindy Harper has a poetry reading for her poem, "Fuzzy Math," in the 2010 Texas Poetry Calendar, at the Book People bookstore in Austin, TX.

Nov. 16, 2009 - Sheila Sattler Kale's story, "Who Are You?" has been published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: True Love, due to be released Dec. 29, 2009.

Feb. 17, 2009, Kelly Carper Polden's story, "The Christmas Miracle of the Lord's Prayer" has been accepted for publication in Christmas Miracles, scheduled for release in late 2009.

Jan. 26, 2009, Liz Hoyt Eberle's story, "Journey to Joy," has been accepted for publication in A Cup of Comfort Bible Promises. Expected release date is Spring, 2010.

Jan. 14, 2009, Liz Hoyt Eberle has had three devotionals, accepted for publication in A Cup of Comfort Devotional: Women of the Bible, "Courage in the Face of Evil," "The Faith of a Child," and "The Genuine Article," (expected publication date March, 2009) and one devotional, "Lists and Lessons," has been accepted for publication in A Cup of Comfort Devotionals for Mothers and Daughters (expected publication date April, 2009).

Jan. 9, 2009, Sally Clark's story "Tomato Libations" has been accepted for publication in The Ultimate Gardener, expected publication in March, 2009.

Jan. 8, 2009, Liz Hoyt Eberle's story "Things of the Heart," and Sally Clark's story "Most Beautiful of All" have been accepted for publication in Patchwork Path: Grandma's Choice, expected publication is Jan., 2009.

Dec. 21, 2008, Sally Clark's story "The Shattered Teapot" was published in the December issu of Christian children's print magazine, The Kids Ark.
